Path to Membership, Early Spring 2014

Save the Date – Path to Membership

Curious about Unitarian Universalism and how the Unitarian Church of Staten Island works? Want to learn more and meet others curious about this path? A Path to Membership group will meet next month on Sunday March 23 at 1 PM in the Library. If you are considering becoming a member of the UCSI, the Path for Membership class is an excellent way to learn more about Unitarian Universalism, our church and its members.

As we get to know each other, explore our spiritual journeys and what moves you about the Unitarian Church of Staten Island, you can gain a deeper understanding of Unitarian Universalist theology; increase your knowledge of American Unitarian and Universalist history; and get an in-depth look at our own Church including a tour of the building, an understanding of the committee structure and other programs, and the meaning of membership in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Staten Island.

If spring seems like too long to wait for this vital information, your membership co-chairs Maureen Curran and Sarah Dolinar are available to answer your questions, and help clarify any concerns right now. You can reach us at membership -at-

Building the World We Dream About

Leaders: Rev. Susan Karlson and Patricia Murphy

Why donʼt we build that community we dream about? That
safe and loving place where we are known and accepted for
ourselves: in our church, in our town and in our world?
What stands in the way? What blocks our understanding of
one another and prevents our building the community we
dream about and yearn for in our deepest selves?

Join us in a dangerous and risky adventure as we explore
and learn to overcome the assumptions about race and
culture that prevent us from truly knowing one another,
guided by an outstanding Religious Exploration Curriculum
for adults.

This is not a lecture series; we will all be challenged to bring
our dreaming — and scheming — selves to look within and
without at how we intentionally can build the community we
dream about and yearn for, the community some call “the
beloved community”.
