Are you curious about Unitarian Universalism?
Attend a Path to Membership Group
A Path to Membership group will be held later in the year 2014. The Path for Membership class is an excellent way to learn more about Unitarian Universalism, our church and its members. As we get to know each other, explore our spiritual journeys and what moves you about the Unitarian Church of Staten Island, you can gain a deeper understanding of Unitarian Universalist theology, increase your knowledge of American Unitarian and Universalist history, take a tour of the building, learn more about our committee structure, and what membership in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Staten Island could meet to you. Please check back with our online Calendar and Upcoming Event offerings for the next scheduled Path to Membership Group meeting.
Membership co-chairs Maureen Curran and Sarah Dolinar are available to answer your questions at any time. Visit: membership -at- uucsi.org.
Past Adult Religious Exploration Offerings Held at UUCSI
Path to Membership Group Meeting, Held in Spring 2014
Led by Rev. Darrell Berger, a Path to Membership group met in the spring of 2014 to address newcomers' questions regarding membership in our church. Several long-time members of the church generously shared their journeys toward UUCSI membershilp, including their childhood experiences with the concept and practice of religion in their family or community, their personal search for meaning throughout their lives, and what they have found valuable in the experience of being a member of the UUCSI church here on Staten Island. Newcomers shared their journeys as well. Several people described their unique spiritual paths and how they came to visit our church and consider membership.
Building the World We Dream About:
Twelve 2-Hour Saturday Morning Workshops, Held in May 2013
Why donʼt we build that community we dream about? That safe and loving place where we are known and accepted for
ourselves—in our church, in our town and in our world? What stands in the way? What blocks our understanding of
one another and prevents our building the community we dream about and yearn for in our deepest selves? Attendees learned to overcome the assumptions about race and culture that prevent us from truly knowing one another,
guided by an outstanding Religious Exploration Curriculum for adults.
